Our Company

Craig is a chartered engineer and founding director of Clark Degnan consulting engineers; heading the companies mechanical design and sustainability divisions.

With 20 years' experience in MEP, low carbon and sustainable design consultancy, Craig has worked across the UK on projects up to a value of £120million. Craig was a BREEAM assessor for over ten years and provides BREEAM and low carbon design advice to Clients at the feasibility and concept stages.

Craig has also worked in a contracting environment and has been responsible for design and build contracts in the nuclear, process and manufacturing industries.

Outside of work Craig spends most of his time with his family, or at the Gym, and sometimes with his family at the Gym.

Oakley is an occasional visitor to the Newcastle office and has taken on the role of Head of Wellbeing. This is largely due to his natural ability to lift the teams spirit as soon as he enters the room.

Outside of work, Oakley is a real outdoor type, and enjoys nothing more than a good walk with his family and chasing leaves.

Harrison is an apprentice Mechanical Engineer based in our Newcastle office.

Harrison is attending Gateshead College to complete a Level 4 HNC in Construction and the Built Environment.

Outside of work Harrison spends most of his time with his family and going to football games, as well as exploring the Northumberland coast in his free time.  

Gabriel is an apprentice Electrical engineer based in our Durham office.

Gabriel has 2 years of level 3 experience in general engineering and is now progressing towards an HNC in Construction and the Built Environment.

When not at work, Gabriel enjoys keeping fit, socialising with friends, and practicing his golf swing. 

Muhammad recently completed his postgraduate degree with an upper second-class honours in Engineering Management from Northumbria University.

Muhammad can work independently and has excellent problem solving, judgement and decision-making skills. He possesses experience and has interest in research, engineering data analysis, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability.

Muhammad has been a sports enthusiast all his life and has a particular liking for cricket. He is an observer of local and international politics and takes keen interest in current affairs. He reads occasionally and loves watching debates and documentaries – genres of interest are IR, global economics, religion & rationality, the cosmos, and astrophysics. Outside of work he loves nature travelling and goes sightseeing for spiritual rejuvenation.

Ewan serves as a Project Electrical Engineer at Clark Degnan, contributing to the electrical design team while undertaking his Degree Apprenticeship in Electrical and Electronic Technical Engineering. With over five years of experience spanning residential, commercial, and public realm projects, he brings valuable expertise to his role.

His responsibilities include the design of electrical systems, preparation of technical drawings and calculations, and support in developing specifications and technical reports. Ewan is particularly adept at problem-solving within the design process, consistently striving for solutions that are both practical and effective on site as well as technically sound. He is dedicated to continuous learning, actively seeking new responsibilities and opportunities to further enhance his skills and confidence within the team.

Beyond his professional commitments, Ewan maintains an active lifestyle through regular visits to the gym, outdoor activities, and travel. He also places great importance on time spent with family and friends and enjoys football as a means of relaxation.

Eve joined the company in 2021 after graduating with an Honours Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from the University of Sunderland. Starting her career as a Graduate Electrical Engineer, Eve has since progressed into the role of Project Engineer, reflecting her growing knowledge and responsibility within the team.

 She has practical experience on a range of commercial, industrial, and residential projects, including both new builds and refurbishments, and is developing a solid grounding in delivering quality engineering work. She also has experience working on heritage buildings, helping to develop practical engineering solutions that respect the character and limitations of historic structures.

Mark is a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer at Clark Degnan Consulting Engineers.  He completed his Bachelors of Engineering Degree in Building Services Engineering at the University of Northumbria In 2017.

With 9 years of experience within the building services industry, Mark has worked on projects across the UK up to the value of £63million.

Mark recently completed his certified passive house designer qualification and has worked on commercial passive house projects.

Mark has worked for several consultancies across the North East working on projects of a wide range of sectors including Healthcare, Residential, Education, Offices, Leasure, Commercial and retail environments.

Outside of work, Mark likes to stay fit walking and running with the dog, and heading up the production team for one of largest churches in Newcastle.

Craig is a Senior Electrical Project Engineer here at Clark Degnan consulting engineers; forming part of the company's electrical design division. With 8 years' experience within the electrical industry, Craig has worked on projects across the UK up to the value of £20million.

Craig has also worked in a contracting environment, working on various projects ranging from renewable energy to housing developments.

Outside of work Craig likes to spend time with family and friends, going out for meals and enjoys a good adventure.

Bryan is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Clark Degnan Consulting Engineers. Having been involved in the industry in various consultancy roles for nearly 20 years Bryan has worked on projects in both the UK and overseas.

Bryan has worked for consultancies across the UK and in New Zealand across a range of sectors including commercial, residential, industrial and leisure.

Outside of work Bryan likes to spend time watching Rugby or Boxing and enjoys hiking and camping when time allows.

David is an Associate Director (Mechanical) at Clark Degnan Consulting Engineers. He completed a Masters Engineering Degree in Building Services Engineering at the University of Northumbria in 2011.

With 15 years' experience within the Building Services industry, David has worked on projects across the UK up to the value of £100million.

David has worked for several consultancies across the North East working on projects across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, residential, education, leisure, offices, retail and local authority schemes.

Outside of work David likes to spend most of his time with his family and the occasional trip around the Northeast on his bike.

Hannah Barnes is a Project Mechanical Engineer with Clark Degnan, where she supports the design and calculation of mechanical building services across a diverse range of projects.

Prior to joining Clark Degnan, Hannah spent five years with Purmo Group, specialising in underfloor heating layouts and heat-loss calculations. Her bilingual fluency in English and German enabled her to collaborate across UK, Austrian, and German teams, before being offered a dedicated role supporting the German department.

Hannah brings both technical precision and creative insight to her work. She holds a degree in Silversmithing and an HNC in Building Services, combining craftsmanship with engineering expertise to deliver practical, material-conscious solutions. She has a strong personal interest in BIM and a passion for sustainability, which underpin her approach to engineering design.

Outside of work, Hannah enjoys playing music, various crafts, walking her collie dog Max, and spending time outdoors.

Jayne brings dedication and resilience to her work, qualities honed during her time as a member of the Army Reserves, where she served as a vehicle mechanic. Outside of her professional role, she enjoys staying active at the gym, traveling to new destinations, and cycling. Jayne also values spending quality time with family and friends, believing that balance and strong relationships are essential for success.

Daisy has a keen interest in sleeping most of the working day, but when she is awake, she is particularly enthusiastic about beef flavour chew sticks from LIDL. If anyone happens to be coming in to the office, please bear this in mind.
