Clark Degnan were appointed by a private developer to design their new home within the coastal dunes in Beadnell, Northumberland. Working alongside architects Studio SP, Clark Degnan developed a sustainable buildings services solution that would reduce the developments environmental impact, leading to dramatically reduced energy demands and running costs compared to traditional housing.

Clark Degnan were appointed by a private developer to design their new home within the coastal dunes in Beadnell, Northumberland. Working alongside architects Studio SP, Clark Degnan developed a sustainable buildings services solution that would reduce the developments environmental impact, leading to dramatically reduced energy demands and running costs compared to traditional housing.

The building was designed with high insulation standards and low building air permeability to reduce winter heating demands, and utilises mechanical ventilation heat recovery to provide good indoor air quality and reduce uncontrolled air leakage.
